Professional Responsibilities AY 2015-16
In addition to the Professional Responsibilities I have taken on as Head of the Social Science Department which you can see here I have also taken on a variety of Professional Responsibilities outside of the Department as well. This is in addition to teaching 20 blocks per week, including 3 different courses.
Week Without Walls, Grade 10 Coordinator
This year's Week Without Walls program almost did not happen, as there was a major disagreement between students and administration about the cost of the program. In addition to planning and coordinating all major learning activities and student social activities, Tara and myself became responsible for budgeting, marketing and presenting the program to students, something that normally falls outside the responsibilities of the teacher coordinators. Below you can see the information packet, presentation and budget, all of which were developed by Tara and I. |

Professional Development is a cornerstone of increasing our professional capacity to meet the needs of a diverse range of student learners.
- I began the year by leading professional development for all teachers by demonstrating the website Edmodo and how it can be used to connect with students and provide formal and informal assessment data
- I was selected to attend the 3 day professional development at ISB on Inclusive Schools, where I focused on techniques for differentiating based on student needs. We have since had several professional conversations based on the lessons from this training and are looking forward to presenting it in a more formal way next year.
Administrative Advisory Committee
In addition to my work as the Head of the Social Science Department, I also take a leadership role as a member of the Administrative Advisory Committee, whose decisions go a long way in determining the direction of the school.

In the beginning of the 7th Period classes, I was the co-founder of the Basketball Club and Yoga Club. After I became the Head of the Social Science Department I had to find a replacement for Basketball Club but I continued to teach for the Yoga Club once / week.
I also was a player and coach for the MUIDS boys basketball team in the MUIC Basketball Tournament three times per year, played on the faculty-staff team in the Mahidol University Football Tournament, and played in the MUIDS Charity Cup.

Although I was not involved in the direct planning phase, I worked with Dean Jackson on all aspects of the implementation of Sports Day, and received special personal thanks for the role I played in making the event a success.
